The Milbrandts!

I had the pleasure to photograph this family for the second time. I've known mom for a few years and they are such a fun, easy-going family. Last year we visited Frick Park but this year we decided to go to Mellon Park and hit my favorite tree!

More to follow soon!

My Sadie-girl

As I'm sure many of you know, getting pictures of a very active 2 yr old can be next to impossible. My baby-girl is no different and being a photographer it drives me crazy that I struggle so much with getting a nice picture of my daughter. I've practically given up on trying to do an actual "photo session" with her and have just managed to get some nicer snap shots here and there. However, last week I had a couple of ideas to coax my little one into being a model for me.

#1- I put her in a tree.

Now, when I was little, my parents gave me the nickname "Monkey-woman." I apparently loved to climb and there were stories of my climbing out of my crib, up in trees and up onto my bedroom window sill. They even got me a t-shirt with the name on it. Well, looks like my daughter has inherited not only my love of climbing but also the nickname.

She absolutely had a blast being in the tree and lovingly called it her "monkey tree."

#2- I bribed her with a lollipop (and a rather large one at that)

The child adores candy and especially lollipops. What more can you say?

One final note- the last photo session I did with her was back in Mar of 2008

Back to Mellon

I had another family session at Mellon park last weekend. An adorable 13 mos old and big sister who was 9. We had a gorgeous morning and lots of gardens and hills to explore. The little guy was just beginning to get the hang of walking and big sis was happy to hold his hand and guide him around. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots especially with the great old trees that are all over.

Family Session at Mellon Park

A beautiful afternoon in a beautiful location with a really sweet family. Mellon Park is near The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and this is a new favorite spot for me. Green hills, gnarled old trees, little walled gardens. Here are a few shots from the day...
