Turning 5

Oh my goodness! What a ball of energy and such a smile! I got to photograph this little guy for his 5th birthday and while he was a little bit of a challenge, I still managed to catch that smile... even if there was a tongue sticking out in one or two shots :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing them again later this spring- little brother turns 2 and brand new baby is on the way too!

Thank you N family for a fun afternoon!

He's One!

Finally catching up on my blog. June has been quite a busy month but I love it- getting to meet new clients and to revisit some that I haven't seen in a year. I love what I do and feel so blessed to be able to share it with others!

Here's a little guy I got to photograph just before his first birthday. He was the happiest little guy and always ready with a pose and a look.

And a few different shots-

New Maternity/Newborn Package!!

Spring is the time to celebrate new life and I happen to have some close friends who are anticipating additions to their families in the next few months. It got me to thinking about offering a new package so moms-to-be can have these moments recorded both the anticipation of the new arrival and welcoming them home.

So now presenting......... the Maternity/Newborn Package (unless I can come up with a more creative name for it) :-)

1- Waiting-for-Baby, Maternity session (2 hours of photos with mommy-to-be, daddy-to-be and any immediate family)
1- Welcome Baby, Newborn session (2 hours of photos with the new arrival, mommy, daddy and any immediate family)

1- Digital CD with 35 high quality files for printing up to size 8x10 from both sessions

1- 8x10 print to celebrate the new family

This package is worth over $300. I'm offering it for only $250 (plus tax).

This makes a great shower gift for a new mom and a wonderful way to celebrate baby's arrival!

Another Newborn!

I've been very blessed this year with not one but two brand new babies to photograph. This little sweet pea came into the world right before the massive February snowstorm. This provided some really challenges to being able to take pictures (I didn't even leave the house for a week because of all the snow). Finally, the snow ended, the roads were cleared and I was able to make my way to meet little Miss K. She was an absolute angel. Momma and Poppa were proud and big brother did so well tolerating all the attention that his baby sister was getting. It was a fun afternoon and I'm so glad I was able to capture these precious moments for this growing family.

I had to go back and add this one. I've been trying to get a cute baby feet picture for a while and I'm so excited at how this one turned out. I just love how the toes are stretching and Mama is gently holding her. Yay for baby toes!

Little Miss C!

January has started out busier than I had expected and I'm loving it! The past few years of doing photography, I've gotten used to a lull that often happens right after Christmas. There is the mad scramble in November and December to have Christmas portraits and I'm working like crazy to fill orders on top of getting my own gifts together. Then the holidays end and it's back to the real world.

This year I was happily surprised to be contacted right before Christmas to set up a session at the beginning of January. Little Miss C turned one on New Year's Eve and her mama was looking forward to getting some pictures of her little angel at Phipps Conservatory. (This is a gorgeous place to visit if you're ever in the Pittsburgh area) After being thwarted a couple of times- by colds - we were finally able to meet up one morning for a walk through the gardens and some great pictures. :-)

Miss C's mama was a delight to work with. She had had similar 1 yr pics done with her 2 older children and in fact, our little model was wearing the dress that big sis wore for her 1 yr pictures.

She looked like a little antique doll in her long dress with her toes sticking out and for the most part was happy to investigate the gardens.

It was such an enjoyable morning, I'm hoping to go back soon for more sessions!

Busy, busy, busy

It's been a while since I've been able to post from my sessions. I've been spinning basically since September but am looking forward to the start of 2010 with the hopes that things will slow down, will calm down, and will let me get my feet back on the ground.

December has proved to be a successful month for me and even with giving myself a deadline for pictures, I still ended up scrambling to get all my edits done. This morning I delivered my final CD for 2009 to my good friend who's be kind enough to let me photograph her adorable little girls, not once, but twice this year!

I also had an influx of baby shots which was a nice change from the usual toddler and family shots that I've been having- not that I don't like those but rather that as an artist, I crave variety and as a mom with my youngest being out of the baby stage, I also crave holding and cuddling those babies :-)

Here are a few of my favorites from this past month!

Thank you to all my clients who have helped me be successful this you! You all are awesome and I feel so blessed to be invited into your homes to capture some off these precious moments you experience with your children.

Catching Up

October started out slow and easy but quickly became chaotic. I had 3 sessions scheduled for the first week in October but had to cancel one when my stepmother became very sick and needed hospitalized. She went home to be with the Lord on October 14th and my family and I are still adjusting day by day to life without Grammie. Thank you all who expressed your sympathy and prayers for my family as we've being mourning and adjusting to this loss. Thank you especially to the Milbrandts and the Hursts who have patiently waited for their edited sessions. Photography is still an art form and as an artist it's hard to produce work while grieving the loss of a loved one.

I've been working hard this week to get caught up on all my editing before the influx of Christmas pictures begins.

Here are some images from my October sessions to give an idea of what I've been working on...

Playing Catch Up

It's been a rough few weeks here which has made it a real challenge trying to balance my time and I haven't been very successful at it. Hopefully things are starting to turn around and I'll be able to be back in the groove before I get hit with Christmas sessions :-)

To catch up, I just had to share a few shots that I did from a session at the end of September. These were the daughters of a really good friend of mine (known her since kindergarten) and her little girls are just precious.

If you follow Jodi Walsh Photography on facebook, these should look familiar... :-)

September Changes and Contest!

The Birthday Boy!!

Summer is ending and a new school year is beginning! There are also some changes for Jodi Walsh Photography...

As of September 1st, my session fee is increasing to $60 this price includes tax. I find it very difficult to raise prices but a necessary evil in order to make this a viable business. Thank you again for all the encouragement in this adventure!

Also September is very special to me because years ago my life thoroughly changed when I became a mom. So in honor of Caleb turning 4, I'm offering a contest for a free session! To enter, just send me a picture of whoever you want in the session through email or Facebook. Entries will be excepted from now until midnight September 9th! The winner will be chosen at random and announced on September 10th!

Oh and this contest is open for anyone (not just little kids) :-) Email pics to jmwalshphotos@gmail.com.

*************************************************************

Free session is not applicable to sessions already scheduled for September or October. Winner has until September 30th to schedule their free session. Prints or photo CD are not included. Locations are limited to Pittsburgh, PA, Latrobe, PA or Derry, PA. Winning entry will be published online.

June 14th

This little guy had a blast Sunday running up and down the hills of Mellon Park (near the Center for the Arts). You would think this would make getting his picture a challenge but it was pretty easy. Someone just had to yell "Sit" and he would plop down, turn and say "cheese."

Baby C

Here are some recent baby shots. What a little sweetie.

March has been a busy month and it looks like April and May will continue the trend. As business is growing, I'm no longer photographing for friends but my name is being passed around a bit. It's very exciting and encouraging. I feel so blessed to be getting to meet all these great families and to capture some special moments for them.

More Session Pics

Just had to post a few of the kids pics :-) They were just too cute!

August update

Can't believe summer is coming to an end. This has definitely been the busier half for me. I've spent lots of time working on my pics from the beach- my first time really shooting at the beach was a little challenging because of the bright sunshine and reflective sand. But I think I've managed to come home with some nice shots.

This weekend I was finally able to get together with a family I've been trying to schedule since June. 10 people, 4 children and 6 adults. My biggest group outside of my own family and it went well. The kids were wonderful and so cooperative and patient (most of the time) :-) They were so good and smiling and watching me so that we just needed to work on the baby- a 14 month old sweetheart.

Grandma and Grandpa were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

What a really nice family and I feel blessed to have met them!
