Phun at Phipps!

Slowly getting my blog posts up to date. I had the opportunity to do pictures of a brother and sister visiting Pittsburgh from Erie. We met up at the outdoor garden at Phipps. Phipps is an absolutely gorgeous place to photograph but I have found that inside can be a little tricky. The outdoor garden is just perfect. It's rarely crowded, there's plenty of space and lots of beautiful flowers.

These two were so cooperative considering how hot it was and how much walking I made them do :-)




After Phipps, we decided to walk down to Forbes Wall. This has become a popular spot with the boys. I think it's amazing to see this bit of sports history tucked away in Oakland.





I thought it was a fun morning and I look forward to hopefully getting to photograph these two again! Thank you J Family!

Goodbye to the G Family

I had the pleasure of photographing this family back in June on what was actually their last day in Pittsburgh. While we were wandering Phipps outdoor garden, movers were packing up their house to move to the mid-West. I feel so special to have been able to spend some time with them on their last day here. They are a beautiful and loving family and Pittsburgh will miss them.



This little one is a doll baby and I'm hoping her mama brings her out to me again to photograph someday. Such a cutie!



Big brother and sister were so good as well and eager to help with their baby sis.

Good Sports

I got to do my first "urban" shoot with a great family that I know from church. Mom wanted shots of her boy and girl but wanted more of a city feel instead of just sticking to the parks so we met at Schenley Plaza and walked around Oakland stopping at the fountain, the library and of course, the remaining wall of Forbes Field.

Such good looking kids and they were so pleasant even though I had them hiking quite a bit. It was a really fun shoot and I hope I get the opportunity to do it again!

Spring Blossoms

Spring has finally arrived in Pittsburgh and we're so happy to have it here. I had to take the opportunity to share some spring blossoms I captured on a recent trip to Phipps Conservatory. This was my first spring time visit there and it was wonderfully. An entire room filled with hyacinths (my favorite spring flowers) needless to say, I loved the smell :-)

Little Miss C!

January has started out busier than I had expected and I'm loving it! The past few years of doing photography, I've gotten used to a lull that often happens right after Christmas. There is the mad scramble in November and December to have Christmas portraits and I'm working like crazy to fill orders on top of getting my own gifts together. Then the holidays end and it's back to the real world.

This year I was happily surprised to be contacted right before Christmas to set up a session at the beginning of January. Little Miss C turned one on New Year's Eve and her mama was looking forward to getting some pictures of her little angel at Phipps Conservatory. (This is a gorgeous place to visit if you're ever in the Pittsburgh area) After being thwarted a couple of times- by colds - we were finally able to meet up one morning for a walk through the gardens and some great pictures. :-)

Miss C's mama was a delight to work with. She had had similar 1 yr pics done with her 2 older children and in fact, our little model was wearing the dress that big sis wore for her 1 yr pictures.

She looked like a little antique doll in her long dress with her toes sticking out and for the most part was happy to investigate the gardens.

It was such an enjoyable morning, I'm hoping to go back soon for more sessions!
