Big Brother and Little Sister

This was Lil' Miss K back in January!

And here she is today!

I was lucky enough to photograph Lil' Miss K back in January just when she was just a little peanut. Mama asked me to come back now that she was a bit older. I love being able to see these little ones grow in their first year. So many changes!

She already knows what team to support!

And of course, we had to get some pictures of big brother!

Newborn-ish session :-)

Well, so this little guy was born back in July so he was around 2 mos old when we did the session but he was a preemie and still pretty tiny. What a cute little guy and an absolute blessing to my friend's family. Here are a few shots from our morning together...

We'll be doing a family session in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to get him and his big brother together :-)

The Little Goose :-)

I just love getting to photograph adorable, smiley girls and my cousin's little girl is one of the best. Almost 99% of the time, she is happy as can be, complete with toe wiggles. Now at 18 mos, she's on the move and enjoying being able to explore. It made perfect sense to take her to Keystone State Park so that she could explore a bit there.

So here she is :-)

And after the main session, we got to play a little with Sadie's pettiskirt and a feather boa.

Thank you Amy for letting me play with your sweet little girl!

Senior Session!!

So, I apologize. My blog has been horribly neglected lately. Between keeping up with photo sessions, editing, and my own family, not to mention trying to build and launch a new website... my head is spinning.

So here's my attempt to catch up and hopefully be able to revamp this in the near future too.

My first senior for the class of 2011! The majority of my time is spent with models who are under 3 ft tall and while I love them, as an artist, I crave variety. So when asked to do senior pictures, I jumped at the opportunity. And I'm so happy that I did.

Despite sprinkles, clouds and a fading sun, we got some amazing images of a gorgeous girl! And she was such a sweetheart to work with.

California Dreaming

So earlier this spring while at a MOPS meeting, I had the privilege of meeting this sweet girl from California who just moved to Pittsburgh. I remember her filling us in on how they basically got off the plane right before the ridiculous 20+ inch record snowfall. Talk about a way to be introduced to Pittsburgh. I was amazed at how even being pregnant and with a 2 yr old, she seemed to just take it all in stride. Wow, what a mom!

And I'm the lucky photographer who got to shoot her maternity session and newborn pics this summer.

This little miss is an absolute doll but you have to be really quick to catch her :-)

I tried to create an illusion of the west coast.

Such a loving family and always willing to explore- here we got to watch baby ducks for a bit.

Then I was able to visit them at their home and do some family shots with their new addition. It was a fun morning and I was so happy we were able to get outside for a few shots. Baby is absolutely beautiful and her big sister was so sweet, giving kisses and "reading" stories.

Thank you DeBruyn Family!

The Little Mister

I still consider myself somewhat of a newbie to all of this. That may be because I look out there and see that there's so much more that I need to learn, not only about photography but also about business. The one thing that I've known from the start is how important word of mouth is. That's why I was so excited to be contacted by this next client. I still get such a thrill out of being contacted by new people interested in having me take their pictures- I also get very nervous (I've always been very shy around people I've never met, kind of odd that my career now relies on me meeting new people). Fortunately, the people I meet at photo sessions are almost always wonderful. This family was no exception. From the moment I entered their home, I felt like a friend and the little guy took no time at all to warm up to the camera. But the smiles were still a challenge to capture.

This little guy is quite the thinker.

An absolutely sweet family and I hope to see them again sometime!

Oh, and I did get a smile from the little guy :-)

Phun at Phipps!

Slowly getting my blog posts up to date. I had the opportunity to do pictures of a brother and sister visiting Pittsburgh from Erie. We met up at the outdoor garden at Phipps. Phipps is an absolutely gorgeous place to photograph but I have found that inside can be a little tricky. The outdoor garden is just perfect. It's rarely crowded, there's plenty of space and lots of beautiful flowers.

These two were so cooperative considering how hot it was and how much walking I made them do :-)

After Phipps, we decided to walk down to Forbes Wall. This has become a popular spot with the boys. I think it's amazing to see this bit of sports history tucked away in Oakland.

I thought it was a fun morning and I look forward to hopefully getting to photograph these two again! Thank you J Family!

Welcome Baby M!

The Happy Family!

Mama and Me

Sharing secrets with big brother and a special kiss from big sister.

The boys

These pictures were taken in the family's house using my white and black backdrops.

This is the second newborn I was able to photograph for this family. When I first started getting into this 2 years ago, I was able to shoot this little guy's big sister when she was just a little peanut. I love being able to record a family's history like that. It's one of my favorite parts of this job.

Sisters

Looking through my galleries you'll see that most of my subjects are 3 ft and under so when I was given the opportunity to photograph young adult sisters, I was so excited and a little nervous. Teens and twenty-somethings aren't likely to giggle at my jiggling keys or goofy noises but I managed to make it through, almost unscathed ;-). These girls are amazing and were so sweet with each other. Older sis was visiting home recently from teaching English in Nepal. Younger sis was headed to Honduras on missions work. Brave girls with big hearts. I feel very fortunate to have been able to capture some shots of them together before the go their separate ways again.

Thank you girls!
